WHATS HAPPENING IN 2023
After a double record-breaking year it is difficult to top what was accomplished in 2022. Luckily the very nature of Jiu-Jitsu requires one to never be satisfied and to always keep working – which is exactly what BJJ Events aims to do in 2023.
Our events schedule will kick off in February and in-store for the year will be 4 AJP events, 3 ADCC’s and an Arnold Classic across three provinces in South Africa.
As for our esteemed athletes and teams, a team trophy will be awarded at each event with a Team of the Year trophy to be awarded – respective to AJP and ADCC. Who said Jiu-Jitsu isn’t a team sport?
Before we give too much of ourself away, we look forward to seeing each and every athlete competing on our mats. From the old timers to the first timers and every one in between. Let this year be your year.
All the best for the season ahead.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2022
After two years of limited competition events 2022 was the year to make up for it. BJJ Events hosted 6 events in total from 3 AJP’s and 3 ADCC’s hosted across various regions of South Africa.
We first broke an all-time record of entries at the AJP Cape Town International Pro with 461 entries of competitors accompanied by 119 gold medals. A successful start to the season but certainly not the peak.
Various ADCC’s were hosted in Cape Town, Gqeberha and Johannesburg with a growing interest in submission-grappling. Each ADCC has its unique name allocated to its location, making each event spectacular in itself.
The season ended with the AJP Africa Continental which broke through every record placed by earlier events. A total of 519 entries were registered which resulted in 499 matches held and 141 gold medals achieved in two days. BJJ Events also had the privilege of hosting internationally known athletes such as Igor Silva and his team.
Although a very successful year lay behind us it is thanks to each athlete that continues to show up to training throughout each passing week. BJJ Events thanks you for being a part of our events because after all, we do it for you.
